Internship Overview

This summer, Carbon Brief is offering a paid three-week journalism internship for students or recent graduates eager to gain hands-on experience in climate communications. The placement runs from 13 to 31 July and follows a hybrid schedule: part of the time you’ll work at the office near London Bridge station in central London, and the rest remotely.

The internship is paid at the London Living Wage (£14.80 per hour), with an additional £100 travel bursary to help cover commuting costs. Office hours are 9am–5pm, Monday to Friday, with a one-hour lunch break.

What You Will Do

As an intern, you’ll become an integral part of the team, shadowing staff and contributing across multiple areas. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Researching, writing, and publishing an article for Carbon Brief—with guidance from experienced journalists.
  • Promoting your article using visuals and social media channels.
  • Assisting with research and writing for Carbon Brief’s award-winning newsletters.
  • Helping identify new stories in scientific papers and policy documents to shape the publication’s coverage.
  • Creating and discussing content for social media platforms such as Twitter/X and Instagram.
